Business Hall of Famers announced
The Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Hawaii
and the selection committee for the Hawaii Business Hall
of Fame
have announced the 2005 laureates, Robin Campaniano and
Masaru "Pundy" Yokouchi. The 2005 laureates
bring the total
number of honorees to 58.
Campaniano, president and CEO of AIG Hawaii Insurance
Co., sits on the board of First Hawaiian Bank, Oceanic
Cablevision
and the Crown Prince Akihito Scholarship Foundation.
He is a trustee for HMSA, the Pacific and Asian Affairs
Council, the
Hawaii Labor Heritage Foundation, the Great Aloha Run
and the state Stadium Authority. He is a past chairman
of the
Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, UH Foundation and the
Hawaii Business Roundtable. He was a regent of both UH
Manoa
and Chaminade University.
Yokouchi, the president of Valley Isle Realty, Kaanapali
Kai Inc. and his own foundation, also is chairman of
the Maui Arts &
Cultural Center. He is a past chairman of the Honolulu
Academy of the Arts, the Hawaii Alliance for Arts education,
and the
Maui Rehabilitation Center. He also served as director
of the Maui Economic Development Board, the Hawaii Theatre
and the
Japan Hawaii Economic Council. He owns the Lahaina Square
Shopping Center, Dickenson Square Shopping Center, the
Old
Koloa Town Shopping Mall on Kauai and the American Savings
Bank Building.
The 2005 Hall of Fame Awards and Dinner is slated for
Tuesday, March 15, at the Sheraton Waikiki. Legislative
presentation
awards will take place on March 14. The selection committee
included Christine Camp Friedman, chairwoman of the Chamber
of Commerce of Hawaii; Jeanne Skog, chairwoman of the
Hawaii Council on Economic Education; First Hawaiian
Bank CEO
Don Horner, who is chairman of the Hawaii Business Roundtable;
state Sen. Sam Slom; and Junior Achievement Chairman
Steven Teruya.
